This chapter explores the possibilities and limitations of historiography and memory as it explores the past of the Historical Society of Ghana.

Why is it important?

In light of ongoing debates about inequalities in global knowledge production, the study seeks to highlight the "incompleteness" and therefore the complementarity of different ways of knowing the past.

Perspectives

Rather than using the current tensions around the 'decolonisation debate' to simply place another singular form of knowing the past on a pedestal, this piece is an appeal for multiplicity.
