What is it about?

This list contains the Arabic terms for parts of plants (such as "trunk" or "stem"), the fruits of plants at various states of ripeness or maturity (such as "date that is ripening and changing from green to brown"), or categories of plants that group together species in a non-taxonomic way (such as "tree without thorns").

Why is it important?

The list can be compared with a list of the names of Arab kinship groups to help identify the groups that are named after plants.

Perspectives

This list is part of an effort to 1) identify the Arab kinship groups that are named after natural species or after the parts of natural species, and 2) explain why these human groups have been given such names.
