In order to understand Brazil, its art and its people, we have to cross a heterogeneous selection of its dramatic productions, considering their context, opportunity and symbolism from the very beginnings of the country's History. In its Brazilian version, the Greek myth will present a very specific face.

Reception Studies have become an important sector within the bibliography on the classics. That Brazil, with its potential as a creator of culture, has a place in this field of research is of the utmost importance. Distinguished Brazilian and Portuguese academics have mobilised for this goal.
Perspectives
This book is of the utmost importance to the Lusophone world, not only because of what it represents in terms of a common endeavour, but also because it highlights the countless intersection that make the different agents of this culture truly interactive.
