What is it about?
An examination of the names of the months as found in the Bible. We find ordinal numbers used in the Pentateuch, Phoenician names in reference to the building of the Temple, and Babylonian month names in post-explicit contexts.

Why is it important?
The use of ordinal numbers in certain contexts while Phoenician and Babylonian month names are used in others may well suggest relative ratings of the biblical texts in question.
Perspectives
This is from a Festschrift in honor of Gary A. Rendsburg. He was my undergraduate advisor at Cornell University in the mid-late 80s and his work shaped my own. This study began as an undergraduate paper over 30 years ago, but older and more experienced assessment seemed merited as a tribute to Dr. Rendsburg.
