What is it about?
A lost Singaporean middle-aged tourist finding new friends in a South Korean suburb in He Shuming's "Ajoomma". An ordinary Korean "OL" (Office Lady) with a huge bag of money frantically evading her captors under Singapore's glittering financial skyline in the Netflix production Little Women. Aside from romantic rendezvous in picturesque Western tourist sites, women in South Korean cinema and television, known here as K-dramaland, do not see much action. These actions are often left to their male counterparts in adventurous international politics. The state productions however takes an unsuual slant in featuring the women protagonists from the otherwise most unexpected backgrounds, moving between Seoul and Singapore, reflecting the possibilities of more active roles for women in the region's transnational media landscape. _x000D_
