Why is it important?
Mental health issues among young people have been increasing, especially in the light of the Covid pandemic. Teachers are often those in whom young people confide. It is important to consider how teachers feel about this and whether they feel equipped to handle this responsibility.
Perspectives
This is a crucial aspect of teachers' responsibilities but it is often an aspect in which they have very little training. As a teacher educator it is important to reflect on our training to check to what extent we are providing future teachers with what they need.
