What is it about?

This study investigated primary school teachers’ conceptions of and concerns about the implementation of integrated STEM education in primary school, in order to provide valuable information and suggestions for the preparation of teachers for STEM education in primary schools.

Why is it important?

In response to the increasing demand for a STEM-proficient workforce, STEM education has become an integral part of education policies worldwide. However, implementing school-based STEM education creates crucial obstacles for schools and teachers.

Perspectives

This study provides some valuable insights into primary school teachers’ conceptual models of STEM integration, and their major concerns about implementing integrated STEM education. These findings can be useful for teacher preparation of STEM education in primary schools.
