What is it about?
Based on interviews with former military leader of the African National Congress, Ronnie Kasrils, this article explores the intersections between armed struggle, non-violent resistance and politics in South Africa. It suggests that different forms of struggle often exist together and that there what is often referred to as 'non-violent' or 'peaceful' resistance actually includes elements of violent/armed resistance.

This article shows that there isn't a firm distinction between non-violent and violent resistance to oppressive systems. Further, it suggests that different forms of resistance must always be subservient to political goals.
