Why is it important?
It is an important example of multilingual literature because it is written in two languages and uses different stylistic registers.
Perspectives
Gardi has the courage to entertain his audience with humor and punchlines at the expense of the bourgeois canon. References to Goethe’s Dichtung und Wahrheit [Poetry and Truth] correspond to the narrator's idea of fiction as a lie.
