What is it about?
This paper is a critical examination of the exclusionary nature of the Gorkha ethno-nationalism, as professed by the Gorkhaland movement. By bringing to the fore alternative voices and perspectives, particularly those of women who come from the margins of caste society in the Darjeeling Hills, a layered and nuanced understanding of the history of the movement, the region and its people is sought to be presented and analysed.
