What is it about?
Casablanca is quickly changing its shape. But space is not neutral: changes in the urban landscape also affect changes in the social landscape, and not always with the consequences that policymaker intended to produce. With notes from two fieldwork research projects we suggest that part of the population is detaching from affiliation with the Moroccan state apparatus, also as a consequence of urban policies targeting working class neighborhoods.
