What is it about?
This paper is about a postulated sound change in Late Proto-Turkic. Specifically, Ünal discusses the changes of d > g and t > g when occurring between a vowel and a specific type of r. He presents further examples and discussion related to these sound changes, building upon his earlier work. The paper examines various Common Turkic words and their potential etymologies in light of this proposed sound change, also drawing comparisons with sound changes in other languages like Ugaritic and Old Novgorodian and Old Pskovian dialects. Additionally, the author revisits some of his earlier arguments and provides further data and comments on previously discussed examples.

Why is it important?
This paper is important because it provides further data and discussion to support the author's previously postulated sound changes in Late Proto-Turkic (d > g and t > g in specific phonetic environments). By revisiting earlier arguments and presenting new examples and analyses of Common Turkic words, the paper aims to strengthen the evidence for this sound change and contribute to a more accurate understanding of Turkic historical phonology and etymology. The paper also draws typological parallels with similar sound changes in other languages like Ugaritic and Old Novgorodian, and Old Pskovian dialects.
Perspectives
I aim to expand and refine the arguments presented in my 2023 paper in order to provide a more comprehensive foundation for the proposed sound changes in Late Proto-Turkic. This involves a closer examination of the phonological data and a more detailed account of the internal developments that support these reconstructions.
