What is it about?
Although Beauvoir is one of ecofeminism's theoretical references, her philosophy seems little explored from an ecofeminist perspective, except in critical approaches. The aim of this article is to approach Beauvoir's thought constructively within this framework. The article focuses on two points: Beauvoir's critical take-up of the dualism between nature and the human, the main object of ecofeminist reproaches, and Beauvoir's critical reading of structural theory in Le deuxième sexe. These two points highlight Beauvoir's conception of being-with in all its complexity. The article concludes with a sketch of Beauvoir's being-with as a model for thinking not only the relationship between woman and man, but also the relationship of humans to nature, as a possible tool for addressing ecofeminist issues.
