What is it about?
The article is a discussion of the potential risks to animal assisted therapy animals. Whilst it is recognised that there are benefits to human animal interaction, there is currently a lack of data investigating the effects on the therapy animals- particularly the emotional effects- and the practice remains unregulated. The article proposes further scientific study, using paradigms such as the 'judgement bias' test, to assess the emotional impact on the animals, as well as legislature to protect the physical and emotional wellbeing of the animals.
