What is it about?
This article describes a newly constructed data set which has information about all people who passed away in the Netherlands in 1921 and had to pay inheritance taxation. We know who they were, where they lived, whether they were married or had children and how much they owned. This data set can help us investigate wealth patterns in the Netherlands and test hypotheses about the relationship between wealth and other variables such as age, place of birth, profession etc. This data is also linked to another data set which lists all individual assets that person owned when they passed away. This allows us to investigate this on an even more detailed level. If you are from the Netherlands, your ancestor might be in here and you can find out more about them.
