Why is it important?

This is a consolidation of the ten years of investigation into the law and relevant state practice on baselines in the law of the sea by the International Law Association and represents the first comprehensive study of this topic since the finalisation of the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea

Perspectives

It was a great honour to be Rapporteur of the ILA Committee from 2012-2018 during which time I worked with Committee Chair, Ash Roach, and Committee members in investigating and studying this important area of the law of the sea.
