What is it about?
This article deals with the question whether youth can be seen as "agents of change" and what concequences might be seen for youth work or youth ministry. Referring to youth culture phenomenons in the past the author presents newer data from Germany which reveals a shift towards less political commitment and better understanding between generations which make it difficult to see youth as "agents of change". Finally the role of youth work and youth ministry in this changing context is discussed.

Why is it important?
Being aware of one's own image of young people is crucial for any concept of youth ministry or youth work. Images of youth are influenced by pedagogical traditions/theories and personal experiences. They have to be mirrored by empirical research.
Perspectives
I have always seen young people as motors of innovation and change. But doubts arised thinking of an actual cohort which is different: not searching for rebellion like in the 1960s but being more conversative as expected. I hope this article helps to reflect your own image of youth.
