Why is it important?
We set in motion an embedded relationship between seeing and learning - calling for critical engagement as a source of education for all. The notion of ocularity in the lives of contemporary learners is examined in terms of its dark side as well as its potential for insight and growth.
Perspectives
This paper introduces the special issue that shares its title. It has been a delight to work with visualities across a variety of disciplines, and to appreciate the many opportunities that arise in these inter-disciplinary spaces.
