What is it about?

The purpose of this study aimed to develop and apply FCE (field-based chemistry experiment) model to cultivate ability for pre-service science teachers to teach chemistry experiments, and to confirm its effectiveness. . FCE model minimized the role of the instructor and applied flipped learning and cooperative learning so that learners could construct their class contents by themselves with experimental topics linked to the secondary education curriculum and learn through mutual cooperation. In addition, through the activities of observing, evaluating, and instructing students in the experimental class, pre-service teachers was able to learn the role of the teacher in the experimental class and directly perform a series of processes necessary to lead the chemistry lab class as a science teacher. It was found that through the FCE model, pre-service science teachers acquired knowledge related to experiments and experiment teaching, as well as practical experimentation and experiment teaching ability.
