• A petrified fossil wood attributed to Mammeoxylon lanneoides Lemoigne is described for the first time from Egypt._x000D_ • This is the second report for family Guttiferae from Egypt, after Guttiferoxylon fareghense Kräusel described in 1939._x000D_ • The M. lanneoides record increased the Egyptian Oligocene wood flora to 46 species._x000D_ • The paleoclimatic information interpreted for this species suggests a tropical humid climate at the site of growth._x000D_ • It is considered as the oldest record of Mammeoxylon worlwide._x000D_
