What is it about?
This study explored bird species diversity and conservation challenges of Lake Arekit which is located in Guraghe Zone of Ethiopia. This lake is found to be critical for a huge spectrum of birds. It supports migratory and residents, endemic and sub endemics, and IUCN Red Listed species of birds. A total of 56 species of birds belonging to 23 families and 11 orders have been registered. Despite its idealness for the iconic bird species, the lake is under sever conservation challenges. The challenges are pictured and put on this study so that immediate action can be taken by any responsible stakeholders.
