What is it about?
This paper explores the role of information and communication technology (ICT) in leadership and decision making in social movements. To do so, this study examines the 2013 Shahbag protests in Bangladesh through the lens of new social movement theories.

Why is it important?
This study is conducted from the perspective of communication that might change and determine the character of a movement. To understand the role that communication plays in social movements more broadly, it is crucial to explore the trend in social movements in a developing country such as Bangladesh in the age of ICT. This study also helps to identify the effective use of communication technologies in social movements.
