The Audiovisual Mismatch Negativity in Predictive and Non-Predictive Speech Stimuli in Older Adults With and Without Hearing Loss

What is it about?

We examined the audiovisual mismatch negativity for speech perception in predictive and non-predictive conditions in older adults with and without aging related hearing loss. Findings suggest that older adults with aging related hearing loss have more efficient neural processing of incongruent audiovisual speech stimuli, as indexed by the mismatch negativity.
