Why is it important?
Sharia is a source of concern in the West, and this article helps navigating between the 'good' and 'bad' forms of Sharia, and to understand that it is not a fixed system of law, but a flexible system that is transforming in a typical Western context
Perspectives
This article is the result of more than ten years of academic and practical research in Western countries. Interestingly enough, my original training in and knowledge of Sharia in the Middle East was of little help - this is a truly Western development
