The first new species of Leptelmis Sharp, 1888 (Coleoptera, Elmidae) from the Philippines in the last 50 years

What is it about?

For more than 50 years a new species of the Riffle Beetle genus Leptelmis was discovered in the Philippines, specifically from Mindanao. A higher diversity for this genus was expected already, but these beetles were rarly collected. The diagnostic features were illustrated and compared with the only previously known representative of this genus from the Philippines. In addition the first DNA barcodes were generated that help to support morphological species hypotheses and so aid in describing new species in a so-called integrative-taxonomic approach.
