What is it about?

This contribution seeks to employ Talal Asad's concept of a 'discursive tradition' as a way out of the dichotomy between 'insiders' and 'outsiders' perspectives in Islamic Studies. It argues that the field of research into Qur'anic exegesis may be a fruitful place to overcome that dichotomy.
