What is it about?
This article analyzes the impact of Ferdinand E. Marcos's martial law on the teachers' movement in the Philippines. It argues that the promise of the professionalization of teaching led to a completely different outcome, which was the decline in the prestige of this vocation. Ultimately, this situation led to militant mass actions conducted by educators who were fighting for economic survival.
