What is it about?
University policies that prohibit same-sex relationships can be dismissive to students and impact recruitment and retention. Accredited counselor education programs are more likely to be open to actively recruiting members of the LGBT community than non-accredited programs. Universities with non-affirming policies would be wise to reevaluate their positions and work to develop non-discriminatory policies that are diverse and inclusive.
