Why is it important?

It is the first time that we have claimed that a discourse marker can be doubly inferential. It is also the first time it has been claimed that the semantics of a discourse marker can contain more than one procedure. Finally, it is the first time the Modern Greek contrast marker 'ma' has been explored in detail in modern Greek, especially in contrast with 'alla'.
