The International Court of Justice usually only hears submissions from states. In recent advisory proceedings, however, particularly those related to climate change, international organisations have played a big role. In the last 5 years, many more international organisations have taken part in proceedings before the Court than participated in the first 50 years of its operation. This article analyses this trend and the consequences that increased participation by international organisations might have for the representation of community interests at the International Court of Justice.
