What is it about?
Can there be a theory of public diplomacy? In this article, we argue that disciplinary siloes can be overcome by adopting an approach to theory based around logics. Logics are identifiable groupings of studies around a specific theme or issue. Through a meta-review of recent scholarship as well as an overview of the PD research field as a whole, we identify seven such logics. This article encourages PD researchers to identify their place in relation to these logics and use the associated body of research to advance the field in a more systematic way.
