What is it about?

This study is a critical examination of three Chinese leading newspapers' representation of African countries and their complicated relationships with the Chinese government. The findings reveal specific ways through which the newspapers normalize and even glorify the China's neo-imperialistic rise and domination in the developing world. This research project demonstrates the strategic and discursive construction of the national, cultural, and racial "other" by the news discourse that supports the Communist ideology. A China-centered new global power hierarchy is created to challenge the traditional West-Other geopolitical structure.
