What is it about?
This article investigates the major motivations for Kwame Nkrumah's intervention in the 1960s Congo crisis. It argues that in as much as Nkrumah wanted peace in the Congo and was keen to work under the auspices of the UN, he also saw the crisis as an opportunity to project both his personality traits - as a continental leader and champion the African agenda of providing African solution to African problems. Thus, the first president of Ghana was very much influenced by Pan African ambitions and his leadership traits. The study is underpinned by the leadership traits analysis theory.
