What is it about?
Children's health remains an important health issue for the development of the nation. However, in developing countries including Tanzania, malnutrition has been prevalent for decades and has been mainly affecting under-five children from disadvantaged and poor households. The prevalence of malnutrition affects not the child but also the household and the nation. Therefore, this article explores the reasons for the existing inequality in malnutrition among under-five children in Tanzania.

Why is it important?
Findings revealed that household wealth status, mother’s education, and place of residence explain the inequality in childhood malnutrition in Tanzania. Therefore, interventions that are aimed at narrowing inequalities in these socioeconomic statuses are needed to address the problem.
