This article brings together our expertise in psychology and New Testament studies to show that psychological theories such as bereavement hallucination, collective delusion/mass hysteria/ mass psychogenic illness, illusions, distorted memory, and cognitive dissonance are not plausible explanations concerning Jesus’ post-resurrection appearances.
