What is it about?

Was indigeneity really an exogenous reality in Cape Verde? In this article, that is the question that guides my thinking. To answer it, I searched archives in Praia and Lisbon for documents showing how the colonial government dealt with the influx of Cape Verdeans and other Africans. From this, I observe how the categories used to produce forced labour produced the indigenity in the archipelago.
