What is it about?
This article examines the role of Portuguese New Christians in Pisa and Livorno in strengthening the commercial ties between the Portuguese Atlantic and the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, with a particular focus on the import of Brazilian goods. These merchants also played a crucial role in the circulation of information about the Iberian world at a time of intensifying colonial competition, marked by the rise of the Dutch, French, and English colonial empires. By highlighting the political and especially commercial activities of these individuals, we aim to contribute to the growing historiographical interest in the networks linking the Mediterranean and the Atlantic during the 16th and 17th centuries._x000D_ _x000D_ _x000D_ _x000D_ _x000D_ _x000D_
