What is it about?

This memoir describes my experiences and impressions of the work and the people I cared for in an isolation ward at the National University Hospital, Singapore in March 2020 prior to the World Health Organization declaring the COVID-19 infection as a worldwide pandemic.

Why is it important?

It shares the personal perspective of a seasoned physician who has to deal with the uncertainties and unknowns even as the pandemic was evolving in Singapore.

Perspectives

Sharing my reflections and emotions as I grappled with how to be present in the many moments with patients and colleagues while covered in personal protective equipment, which got in the way of care, as I have always known it.
