What is it about?
Artur Kozak (1960-2011) developed a highly original legal theory called "juriscentrism". Juriscentrism is about explaining why lawyers should have power in society and why they should enjoy a large degree of autonomy when exercising this power. Juriscentrism draws on various contemporary currents in philosophy, such as postmodernism and erthnocentrism, as well as on sociology and social theory.

Why is it important?
No other legal theorist proposed a similar theory. Kozak's concept is the best available theoretical explanation of lawyers' power in society. Juriscentrism can be used by political theorists and political scientists to explain the need for the rule of law.
Perspectives
This is the first English-language publication about Artur Kozak. Soon, a publication of his book on lawyers' discretionary power will appear in English. This article is an excellent introduction to Kozak's theory.
