What is it about?
Faith-healing is a significant occupation among those designated shepherds in the Lutheran Church in Madagascar. They receive all kinds of ostracised people in their healing camps. Their faith-healing takes place through care in a communal environment, expulsion of demons and prayer with the laying on of hands. This article investigates the significance of faith in their faith-healing practices and finds that although their understanding of faith resembles Lutheran definitions of the Christian faith, their communication of faith holds conflicting and contradictory theological perspectives.
