What is it about?
The nexus between corruption and the rule of law, with an emphasis on the role of international actors in upholding the latter. Focus is put on asset recovery, particularly the seizure of property derived from corrupt activities, involving assets within Member States of the Council of Europe and the European Union, as well as abroad. The focus is on the actions of the Council of Europe Member States, particularly the jurisprudence of the ECtHR, and the corresponding international legal framework. It concludes with an outlook on how to clear up the muddy waters for countries in transition or those on their way to accede to the European Union.
