Arctic Indigenous Peoples and International Law

What is it about?

Arctic Indigenous Peoples have fought to ensure their voice in international law-making. They have now long been involved in the negotiation processes that lead to its creation. However, they have also been excluded and marginalised by that same system. This article showcases how Arctic Indigenous Peoples engage in international law, its processes and forums, and identifies some of the challenges associated with their ongoing efforts to realise equity within a system of law based on Western European values.
