What is it about?
Raphael Lemkin is one of the most widely known figures in the history of international criminal law. He developed the novel term 'genocide' and the concept it describes, which was enshrined in the 1948 Genocide Convention. While Lemkin's work on genocide is widely known, he was also involved in efforts to define the crime of aggression. New archival findings allow us to understand Lemkin's approach to aggression and his related involvement in the Tokyo International Military Tribunal (1946-1948).
