What is it about?

The religious economy paradigm sees churches as firms, pastors as marketers, and church members as consumers whose tastes shape the goods and services the ministers offer. Religious innovators operate within this framework as suppliers who thrive because they react quickly to changing cultural and social conditions. This paper argues that Oral Roberts was such a person. His innovative use of television, how he touched society’s modern-day ills, how he delivered an experience to his audience, and the extent of his global enterprise and product all reveal that Oral Roberts was a religious innovator.
