What is it about?

A review of Joseph Lear’s account of an Assembly of God revitalizing while learning to practice the ancient traditions of the Church without losing touch with their Pentecostal ethos. The review touches on the strengths of the testimony and theology of the work while acknowledging this isn’t simply assimilation into a liturgical church.

Why is it important?

The review promoted a work that is addressing a felt need in Pentecostal movements, namely the desire to connect with previous generations of Christians and experience the Spirit-led worship of the past.

Perspectives

To my mind, Lear is writing an utterly necessary work and providing one example of what it looks like for Pentecostals to interact with the Great Tradition. It’s only one possible path but it should inspire many more.
