What is it about?
This review engages the research quality, purpose, and narrative gaps of Living in Bible Times: F.F. Bosworth and the Pentecostal Pursuit of the Supernatural, by Christopher J. Richmann. I raise some questions about his intention, methodology, and the scope of his material, particularly in failing to address the intersection of racism with the evolution of Pentecostal organizations that Bosworth was engaged with.

Why is it important?
Pentecostal scholarship desperately needs more biographical work and theological reflection by way of testimony. Richmann is an example of that, but this review raises questions that must be addressed for that type of work to be effective in current pentecostal/charismatic scholarship.
Perspectives
I was excited to review to this book, because the exercise of biography as theology has such potential in pentecostal/charismatic theology. That is what made the gaps and questions disappointing, and I hope that, going forward, biographical theology (the academic version of testimony) will be more effectively engaged by authors in pentecostal-charismatic theology.
