What is it about?
In this paper we make a critical distinction between inequalities arising from profits and wages on the one hand and inequalities arising from rents on the other - following Sorensen and the 19th century economist, Ricardo. Our new contribution is to show that rents are especially important in post-communist capitalist transition and without the concept of rents the mecha-nisms of corruption cannot be understood.
