What is it about?
Aphelenchoides paratenuis n. sp. found in Fraxinus sp. from the USA is described based on morphological and molecular characters. The new species belongs to the Group 2 category of Aphelenchoides species sensu Shahina and defined as A2-B1-C1-D1-E2-F2 according to the categorization codes of OEPP/EPPO. It is close to A. tenuis and A. yixingensis. Phylogenetic analyses based on sequences of partial 18S, ITS, and 28S D2-D3 of rDNA confirmed its status as a new species.
