On the presence of Aristeus antennatus (Decapoda, Dendrobranchiata, Aristeidae) off the Canary Islands and Madeira (NE Atlantic)

What is it about?

Here we first report on the blue and red shrimp, Aristeus antennatus (Risso, 1816), off the Madeira and Canary Islands, north-east Atlantic Ocean, based on two adults. The Madeiran individual was filmed in its habitat at 861.5 m depth using a deep research submersible, while the Canarian specimen was caught at 680 m depth as by-catch of the local artisanal fishery.
