The standard deviation structure as a new approach to growth analysis in the farmed Pacific white shrimp, Penaeus vannamei (Decapoda, Penaeidae)

What is it about?

• A comparison is done to test the best residual error structure when fitting growth data._x000D_ • The age-size variability that yielded the best model fit was that observed, not constant or monotonically increasing or decreasing, as commonly assumed._x000D_ • Results are best fitting with Von Bertalanffy model._x000D_ • A data set for Penaeus vannamei was used, although the results can be generalized for other species with sufficient data allowing to compute variance-at-age to fit the growth models._x000D_
